NAUI DIVE ACCIDENT RESCUE TECHNIQUES
Learn how to manage risks and effectively handle limited in-water problems and diving emergencies, how to assist and transport divers, and how to perform surface rescues and rescues from depth involving both boat and shore based skin and SCUBA divers.
CPR and First Aid certifications are required to complete this course. Your SCUBA Rescue Diver training moves you on your pathway to becoming a NAUI Leader: Skin Diving Instructor, Assistant Instructor, Divemaster or Instructor.
COSTS:
$250 includes course, pool and instructor fees
$60 for “NAUI SCUBA Rescue Diver”
$30 for NAUI c-card
plus CPR and 1st Aid training (if needed)
PREREQUISITES:
1. Student numbers: minimum 6, maximum 10
2. Minimum age: 17 years
3. Advanced Open Water certification or equivalent
4. Minimum logged dives: 25
5. Medical approval by licensed physician in preceding 12 months
COURSE OBJECTIVES: 8-12 hours of classroom study,
12 hours of pool work and
8 hours of open water work
1. This course is designed to train divers in the knowledge and skills to aid in the prevention and management of diving related accidents.
2. CPR and 1st Aid for the Professional Rescuer are required and can be included in the course if needed.
3. The Rescue certification is required for entry into any of the leadership level classes (i.e. Divemaster).
EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS:
1. Complete scuba (cylinder, BC with LP inflator, regulator with alternate air source, SPG, depth gauge, timing device and/or computer)
2. Appropriate exposure suit and weights for the environment
3. Compass
4. Knife
5. Dive tables and logbook
6. Slate and pencil
7. Signaling device
8. First aid kit
9. Oxygen delivery system recommended
